In Wise and Otherwise there are 2,500 wise, funny and unusual old sayings from around the world, and more than a few possible endings! During play the first part of an actual but little known old saying is read aloud. Then, with a little wit and imagination each player writes an ending to go with the beginning. The made-up sayings are read aloud along with the actual old sayings, and everyone tries to guess the real one. You'll get points when other players think your ending is the real one, and points for guessing the real old saying.

I have to post how much fun my family had with this game. I'm the game geek of the family... others have to be coaxed, except for my mom, my niece (8) and my nephew (10). I let them do the encouraging for me, and when we finally sat down to play, of course the kids had to be included. The game is geared to adults, but 10 year old's additions to the mix were as hilarious as anyone's and frequently just as believable as the actual saying. The 8 year old played on a team, and had lots of fun collaborating & making the final decision as to which the team thought was the authentic saying. My favorite from the 10 year old: there's an old saying, "When you take a squirrel out of the water... it's furious!" |

Hysterical! It was the first time I had seen my husband laugh until he cried in many years. And this is a man whose attitude is "golf, tennis, yard work--but please--I beg you, not a board game." We had a blast playing this game at a friend's house with three other couples. It challenges your creativity and your sense of humor in ways I could not have imagined. And you will laugh until you cry at what people come up with, and how you are fooled into believing they have the right saying. It is, quite simply, fun. |

Wise and Otherwise is the best party game by far! If you have the opportunity to buy this game - do it! It is basically a bluffing game and I have won every game I have played (not to brag). The purpose of this game is to fool people into thinking your answer is the right one, while also correctly guessing the real answer. While I do not always guess the correct one, I get people to think my answer is right (enough times to score big points). So you have to put on your poker face while all the answers are read aloud. These cards have actual sayings from around the world, and only the first half is read. The second half of the saying is on the back of the card, and the one you are guessing at. I am often amazed at the creative endings my friends have produced. Often the made up answers are hilarious, and the real answer is so strange. Hope you like it as much as we do! |
