For the daring and adventurous, there are many Lost Cities to explore. They are in the Himalayas, the ever-shifting sands of the desert, the Brazilian rain forest, ancient volcanoes and in Neptune's Realm. With limited resources the players must choose which expeditions to begin. Those with high confidence may want to up the stakes: increasing the rewards for success, but risking more should the expedition fail. The player who finds the right balance will find victory!

Lost Cities is one of those games that you can sit down with just about anyone and teach them how to play in about fifteen minutes. It is also one of those games that people will ask to play again and again.

It is very simple with a few expiditions that you can choose to go on at any time, but be careful. Each expidition has its costs and you need to make sure you have enough cards to overcome that cost. Many new players will try to do too many expiditions and end up with a negative score at the end.

My wife and I play this game when are wanting a quiet night with music or the TV in the background. It doesn't require absolute attention and the game is over when the last card is drawn. A great two player game that anyone can learn to play and enjoy!

Lost cities is a good card game for couples which only suffers a little for lack of theme.

Play is as simple as play a card, take a card (repeat until you are through the deck), but presents players with interesting choices every turn: Do I discard this green card, and risk my opponent making use of it, or do I play this white card before I'm ready? Gameplay can be quick, but may get a bit bogged down the first few games as players learn what works and what does not.

My only hesitation, as mentioned above, is that there really isn't any theme to the game. The game could be just as easily played with a regular deck of playing cards (if there were five suits), and gameplay wouldn't change a bit. Scoring also takes a while to explain at the end of the game, but the instructions provide a great illustration showing all of the possible combinations and effects.

That being said- the card art is truly beautiful, and there is a deepness to this game that is hard to relate without playing it a couple of times yourself. Also- this is easily the most-played game in my house (and can even be played while feeding a baby, if you have card holders). If you don't own it, run on down to Uncle's and playtest. Trust me, it is worth it.
