Play the game that pays tribute to America's railroads! Empire Builder is the "epic railroad building in North America game," where players can rediscover the fun and importance of the railway system. Purchase tracks with your initial investment, pick up commodities (where they are farmed, mined, or manufactured) and transport them to areas with the highest demand. Build up your revenue as you complete deliveries and accrue larger and faster trains to expand your railway. The player with the most lucrative empire wins!

The Empire Builder game contains a geographically correct map that accurately portrays America's rivers, mountains, and plains. A great game for learning about geography, railroads, and business! Contents of Empire Builder:

  • 1 Markable Gameboard (designed in large pieces that form a map)
  • 6 Wipe-Off Crayons
  • 2 Decks of Cards (full color)
  • 95 Color Load Chips
  • 1 Pack of Empire Builder Money
  • 6 Train Pawns
  • Full Color Rules

This is one of those oldies but goodies. My three sons and I used to play this game for hours at the beach. Players are given a small amount of money and let loose to build a railroad empire across North America. Trip cards are drawn that give players three options for picking up a specific kind of freight and where to deliver it in order to get paid. Of course the longer hauls pay more but you have to either have the rail lines or pay other rail barons to use their lines.

Each person is given a different color to actually draw his lines on the board. You have to be careful or you can get closed out of a major city and those disaster cards can cost you the game.
