Acquire will have you vying for corporate dominance in no time! One of the many popular Sid Sackson's games,
Aquire has seen various printings since its first appearance in 1962 - the most recent being Hasbro's Avalon Hill publication. Your goal is to become the richest real estate financier by means of buying, selling, and trading of the stocks associated with the seven various hotel chains. Players will build their hotels based on the randomly drawn tiles, that will be placed on the corresponding squares (which collectively comprise the grid). Any player who can manage to place two hotels side by side, has effectively created a chain, therefore earning shares. Initially this will seem exciting, but as the grid becomes clustered with more hotels and chains, merges will ensue. Once this occurs, majority stock holders will reap the benefit of share bonuses, allowing for more capital to be reinvested within other chains. This is an abstract strategy game that has some elements of luck, but also a large emphasis on money management and construction tactics. The game ends when either all of the hotel chains are considered safe, or when a hotel chain reaches 41 or more tiles on the grid.
